How we work
Editorial review policy
This page explains how we select, review, and score online casino operators. Our goal is to provide useful, balanced comparisons that reflect what a UK player would actually encounter when using an operator — not just the headline promotional terms.
Our reviews are editorial assessments produced by our own team. They are not official ratings, regulatory opinions, or endorsements. Scores represent our view at the time of review and may not reflect changes an operator has made since publication.
Selection criteria
Operators are only considered for listing if they hold a current UK Gambling Commission licence. From that pool, we select operators based on their relevance to UK players, the quality of their available information, and whether they meet a minimum usability standard. We do not list every licensed operator.
Scoring criteria
Each operator is scored across the areas below. The overall score is a weighted aggregate on a scale of 1–10. Criteria marked as Essential or High weight carry more influence than Standard criteria.
Licensing
EssentialAll operators must hold a current UK Gambling Commission licence. This is a hard requirement — operators without a valid UKGC licence are not listed regardless of other factors.
Terms transparency
HighWe assess how clearly an operator presents its key terms, including bonus conditions, wagering requirements, withdrawal limits, and account policies. Terms that require multiple clicks to locate, or that are worded to obscure material conditions, score lower.
Responsible gambling tools
HighWe check whether deposit limits, loss limits, session time reminders, cool-off periods, and self-exclusion are available and easily accessible. We also check for GAMSTOP integration and links to independent support organisations.
Site usability
MediumWe assess navigation clarity, page loading speed, account management ease, and how straightforward it is to find key sections such as banking, responsible gambling, and full terms.
Payment options
MediumWe review which deposit and withdrawal methods are supported, whether processing times are clearly communicated, and whether minimum and maximum limits are stated in the banking section.
Game variety
StandardWe note the breadth of the catalogue including slots, live casino, and table games, and the range of providers represented. We do not assess individual game quality or RTP values.
Mobile experience
StandardWe test both mobile browser and dedicated app experiences where available. We assess whether key functions are accessible on mobile without significant degradation.
Score interpretation
Scores on a 10-point scale are intended to give a sense of relative quality, not absolute ranking. A score of 7.5 means the operator performed well across most criteria with some areas for improvement. A score of 6.5 means the operator meets our minimum standards but has notable gaps in one or more areas.
We do not award scores below 6.0 to operators we actively list — if an operator scores that poorly, it is not listed. We also do not assign perfect or near-perfect scores unless an operator genuinely excels across all criteria.
Individual operator notes
The section below summarises our key editorial notes for each currently listed operator. Full review detail is available on the comparison page.
